Four Times the Football Action at Leroy’s: Three ‘n Out Joins College and Pro Challenges.
(Las Vegas, NV) – Leroy’s Race and Sports Book goes four-deep this football season adding two Three ’n Out contests that join the popular College Football and Pro Football challenges. Here is a rundown of Leroy’s football contest offerings:
Three ‘n Out…Times Two.
Three ‘n Out is a winner-take-all contest where players can pick one pro game -- side or total -- each week. Keep hitting your picks from the Three ‘n Out contest card and you could win all entry fees. Three losses and you’re out.
Advertisement Leroy’s is presenting a full season version – or until the best handicapper emerges – as well as a mid-season contest which begins Oct. 25. Entry fee is just $25 with a maximum of five entries per person. Full season entry deadline is Saturday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at any manned Leroy’s Race and Sports Books throughout Nevada. Deadline for mid-season entries is Saturday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m., with sign-ups starting on Oct. 1.
“If any player bombs in the first three weeks of the full-season contest, we will comp them their entry fee for the mid-season contest,” said Tournament Director John Salerno. “
College Football Challenge Enters Fifth Year.
Leroy’s College Football Challenge enters is fifth year and attracted 391 players from across the state last season.
College Challenge players will put up $250 to compete in the 12 week season running from Sept. 5 through Nov. 21. They must pick their best seven games against the point spread from the Leroy’s College Challenge Card which features up to 50 games. Contest entries for the College Challenge are available at any manned Leroy’s location and must be in by Friday, Sept. 5 by 4 p.m.
All College Challenge entries, a maximum of five, are due by 5 p.m. the Friday before Saturday’s games. Leroy’s will pay 95 percent of all entry fees to the top 40 players and the remaining 5 percent to the entrant with the most wins for the final four weeks of the season (Oct. 31-Nov. 21) Total prize money is based upon the total number of entries with the top handicapper winning 30 percent of the prize pool .
Last season, Las Vegas security professional Kevin Riley took home the $30,000 College Challenge top prize. He finished with a solid 54-30 record over 12 weeks and a one-game margin over high profile handicapper Steve Fezzik.
Pro Football Challenge Draws Top Handicappers.
Leroy’s Pro Football Challenge will mirror the College Challenge in prize money, number of entries and entry fee.
Pro Challenge players can pick five sides or totals each week from the Pro Challenge card. Picks are due by 9 p.m. every Saturday for the Sunday and Monday games. The 17-week Pro Challenge season runs from Sept. 13 through Jan. 3. Hottest player in the final four weeks of the season will earn 5 percent of the entry pool. Each contest will pay the top 40 places and all entry fees go to the prize pool.
Andy Ducay, aka Dr. Odds, won last year’s Leroy’s Pro Football Challenge by besting 281 competitors with a stout 67 percent winning record to pocket $30,000.

American Wagering's iPad application that lets state residents and visitors to Las Vegas place sports wagers from their tablet computer has been approved by Nevada gaming regulators and Apple Inc., a company executive said Wednesday.
The approval makes American Wagering, which operates Leroy's Horse and Sports Place, the only U.S.-based gaming company to have a sports betting application available in the iTunes app store for both the iPhone and iPad.
Vic Salerno, president and CEO of American Wagering, said the application is free to download and use; however, customers must open an account before they can bet. The company's iPad app was released about five months after its iPhone app.
"The number of iPhone apps downloaded has surpassed the number of Android and BlackBerry apps downloaded combined," Salerno said. "The iPhone is getting to a younger demographic (male, ages 21-40) and building and expanding the sports betting market.
"We also have a lot of women signing up to open accounts," he said. He attributed this to women being able to place a bet on a football or basketball game without having to walk into a sports book.
Based in Las Vegas, the company introduced mobile wagering for the BlackBerry in September 2010, followed by Android phone and tablet applications in April 2011.
Salerno said the company routinely "sends out updates" of its applications. American Wagering operates 77 Leroy's Horse and Sports Place outlets and self-service kiosks in casinos statewide.
In September, Nevada gaming regulators allowed PT's Pubs, PT's Gold and Sierra Gold taverns owned by Golden Gaming to use the Leroy's sports wagering kiosks. Golden Gaming and Leroy's share the revenue from the kiosks.
The licensing agreement expires in July 2013, which gives regulators time to study whether the devices violate gaming laws.
William Hill PLC acquired American Wagering for $18 million in April 2011. Salerno declined to predict when the merger might be placed on the agenda of the Nevada Gaming Control Board and state Gaming Commission for their approval.
